“I just want things to feel better. But I don’t know how to get there.”

Your to-do list may be on fire. Things at work may be on fire. The world may be on fire. But you don’t have to feel like you’re on fire. Whether at home, at work, or as part of a team, you can find greater balance and deeper ease in the day to day.

“Alan is such a deep listener, and so patient.

Through our 1:1 coaching sessions, he reminded me why I was feeling the things that I was feeling - frustration, burnout, overwhelm - the science of why I was feeling those things, and then gave me strategies to help cope and manage.”

Hi, I’m Alan.

My specialty is extreme nervous system states:

As a person living with Tourette Syndrome, as an educator of 20+ years, and as a human navigating stress and relationships and difficult circumstances.

Over the course of my life and career, and through a number of evidence-based modalities, I’ve learned simple practices that have helped me better regulate my nervous system to manage overwhelm, navigate conflict and challenges, and find deeper fulfillment in my day to day.

Now, it’s my mission to make sure you have those practices, too.

By finding practices that feel authentic to you and learning how to integrate them into your daily routine, you can change the systems (nervous systems AND external systems) that feel overwhelming.

Learn how to manage overwhelm, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and experience greater joy.

Here’s how we can work together.

“I’ve had breakthroughs about my work”

“As a result of my sessions with Alan, I have had some breakthroughs about my own work - the way I manage my work and show up at work. And there's an openness with the way Alan does his individualized work that allowed me to feel like I could be vulnerable, that I could share some of the issues, but he also held me accountable in terms of thinking through how to make things better. And that has certainly had a direct impact on me as a person and as a professional.”

- Middle school head, Connecticut
“We’ve become a calmer, happier team”

"Having Alan there as kind of a neutral person has been really helpful in better understanding our team dynamics. I'm better able to scan the work situation, the management situation, more accurately than I had been before. And I'm better able to respond in a way that's going to be more helpful for the team and therefore more helpful for the organization. The result of our work together is a calmer team, a happier team. A team that works better together.”

EVIDENCE-BASED

Practices that actually work

You don’t have time for practices that don’t deliver, and I have no interest in teaching you something you can’t use. That’s why everything I teach is evidence-based and the practices I share pull from multiple disciplines.

PRACTICAL

Practices you’ll actually use

What works for another person or another team may not work for you. Together, we’ll identify the practices that feel authentic and applicable to your unique challenges, team dynamics, and goals. Then we’ll create a plan for integrating them into your daily routine.

ACCESSIBLE

Practices you actually have time for

The only thing more overwhelming than feeling completely overwhelmed is finding more time in your day to learn how to not be overwhelmed (what?). That’s why we’ll take this one small step at a time - so you can feel results instead of feeling overburdened.

“Alan’s work with our team was transformational, both for me personally and for our entire team.

He really leans into the science and the training he has.”

Maybe you’re still wondering…

Here are the answers to my most frequently asked questions.

I’m interested in 1:1 coaching or team support sessions. How does that work?

I typically book 1:1 and team support sessions as packages of 6 sessions at a time. I offer a limited number of coaching packages at a sliding scale to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ educators and organizers.

Do you have a minimum time commitment for in-person workshops and retreats?

My minimum engagement for in-person visits is generally a full day of programming, or multiple half days.  For virtual programming, shorter stand-alone programs may be an option. All programs are custom designed based on your organization’s needs and are priced accordingly.

Do you offer special pricing for nonprofits or minority-owned businesses?

For nonprofits, B Corporations, and BIPOC & LGBTQ+ owned businesses, I will work with you to ensure pricing matches your resources.

“My life has started to blossom in other ways”

"After working with Alan, I feel more grounded. I feel grateful. And I have a deeper sense of self-awareness. The perspective he has helped me cultivate is something I will forever be grateful for, and since working with him, my life has started to blossom and grow in other ways, too.”

- Professional musician and music educator, New York
“Alan is a phenomenal presenter”

"Alan really knows his stuff. He is very knowledgeable. And one of his greatest strengths is his delivery. He is a phenomenal presenter. He's engaging. He's participatory with the attendees. He has a great sense of humor that translates well to the audience. And people really connect with him.”

When it comes to creating cultures of support and wellbeing, we can’t model for our students what we don’t embody ourselves.

To teach our students how to manage overwhelm and navigate the on-fire state of today’s world, we must first understand how to do those things for ourselves.
